About This Role

This role involves providing customer service to donors, handling and sorting donated goods, and maintaining store cleanliness while upholding MERS/Goodwill's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide positive customer service interactions, including greetings, assisting donors with their donation drop off, and offering thanks and any donation incentive and tax receipt
  • Handle all donations with care and respect
  • Sort donated goods and purchased goods into categories: sales floor, seasonal, online sales, outlet, and trash, according to established guidelines
  • Notify management of hazardous, valuable, or inappropriate merchandise/materials being donated
  • Maintain high quality and high quantity standards while working quickly and steadily
  • Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard
  • Uphold store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership and work cross-functionally with other teams to increase communication
  • Utilize safe work practices through awareness and observation and contribute to ensuring the workplace is hazard-free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and designated walkways debris-free
  • Maintain a professional appearance always, adhering to MERS/Goodwill's dress code
  • Safeguard agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft. Report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets
  • Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management
  • Organized and capable of interacting with a diverse work population
  • Necessary math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED Preferred
