About This Role

Manage and provide technical supervision for multiple laboratories within the Gulf Coast Region, ensuring quality patient testing and adherence to regulatory standards for Texas Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the clinical operations of all labs in assigned areas of responsibility, encompassing lab testing facets including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Proficiency Testing.
  • Review all Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Proficiency Testing for assigned labs.
  • Maintain awareness and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding laboratory operations and licensing.
  • Supervise laboratory staff, direct the development and evaluation of personnel performance objectives and goals, and develop performance expectations for clinical staff.
  • Establish procedures and policies for Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Proficiency Testing Reviews; oversee, evaluate, select, and validate test methods.
  • Evaluate qualifications of potential employees, interview, hire, and assure all employees meet CLIA and COLA requirements.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and implementation of budgetary needs for laboratory services and evaluate vendor bids for new equipment.
  • Direct the correct use of charge codes and CPT codes, educating clinical lab staff on proper documentation for reimbursement.
  • Perform cost analyses on major equipment considered for purchase and advise on efficiency and profitability.
  • Serve as liaison with reference labs and vendor customer service representatives to ensure optimal service and pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science field
  • Minimum seven (7) years experience in laboratory testing
  • At least five (5) years in a supervisory capacity
  • ASCP or equivalent certification
  • Current state licensure
