This is a hands-on field role within Advanced Electric Systems for a Relay & Apparatus Technician to test, troubleshoot, commission, and maintain high-voltage equipment, ensuring reliability of protection and control systems across North America.
Responsibilities
- Test, troubleshoot, and inspect complex electrical systems
- Perform acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning testing on circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, SF6 interrupters, grounding systems, battery banks, relays, meters, motor control centers, and SCADA systems
- Operate test equipment (Doble, Manta, Vanguard, Omicron)
- Communicate with relay platforms (SEL, Multilin, Basler)
- Use software such as DTA, Protection Suite, Enoserve/RTS, PTM, Accelerator
- Interpret protection and control schemes and electrical drawings
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical circuits
- Write clear test reports in Microsoft Word and Excel
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Experience in high-voltage testing, either relay or apparatus
- High level of proficiency with test sets such as Doble, Manta, Vanguard, Omicron
- Willingness to travel interstate on a weekly/bi-weekly basis
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently or in team environments while following safe work practices
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Experience in high-voltage testing, either relay or apparatus
