Registered Nurse (RN), Surgery/OR

About This Role

The Registered Nurse - Surgery provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients within an acute care hospital setting. This role supports surgical interventions across all age groups and ensures patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the perioperative process.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care based on established standards of care and the nursing process
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policy
• Document all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately
• Monitor, evaluate, and communicate patient condition to healthcare team, patient, and family
• Coordinate and collaborate with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
• Participate in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals as needed
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients throughout the surgical experience

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred, previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred
