The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Observation Unit provides professional and compassionate nursing care to patients with various medical conditions, including chest pain, syncope, and congestive heart failure. This role involves systematically assessing patient needs, developing nursing diagnoses, implementing care interventions, and evaluating outcomes. The unit cares for 4-6 patients at a time and provides a comprehensive orientation program for new nurses.
Responsibilities
- Systematically assess and reassess the healthcare needs of individuals, appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate
- Provide nursing care through interventions to achieve patient goals and needs, guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations, and policy
- Evaluate patient outcomes by utilizing critical thinking processes and evidence-based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions
- Evaluate discharge needs related to the plan of care, utilizing resources as needed
Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Previous hospital experience helpful preferred
