The Registered Nurse (RN) in the NICU is responsible for providing safe, direct patient care to neonates, utilizing the nursing process from assessment to evaluation. This role involves guiding patient/family education and other nursing personnel while adhering to professional standards.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Direct and guide patient/family teaching
- Direct and guide activities of other nursing personnel
- Maintain standards of professional nursing
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment
- Provide a safe environment for patients and visitors
- Utilize the chain of command to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care for neonates
- Provide direct patient care with assistance to neonates from post-delivery stabilization through discharge
Requirements
- Current and valid state RN License
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire
- NRP (AHA) certificate within 30 days upon hire
- One year experience in an acute care setting with experience in nursery or NICU environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- One year experience in an acute care setting with experience in nursery or NICU environment
