Registered Nurse (RN), Med Surg

About This Role

Provide exceptional direct patient care in the Med Surg Unit at Northwest Florida Community Hospital, working night shifts and collaborating with medical providers and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with other Nurses and Nursing Assistants to divide care tasks for patients
• Provide direct patient care in an organized and timely manner, demonstrating age-appropriate care and documenting per unit policy
• Initiate and assist with emergency measures, identify life-threatening arrhythmias, and demonstrate knowledge of ACLS guidelines
• Understand and operate all equipment on acute care units, including beds, scales, IV pumps, and respiratory equipment
• Initiate and maintain a sterile field, assisting physicians with procedures such as suturing, chest tube insertion, and lumbar puncture
• Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age-specific criteria, patient clinical condition, and safety policy
• Perform daily/nightly narcotic medication reconciliation checks with another licensed nurse
• Perform AccuChek testing per policy, ensuring controls are dated and documenting actions taken
• Maintain and update patient charts per unit policy, checking for completeness prior to releasing to health information
• Provide a safe environment for patients and family members, reducing the risk of falls

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida

• Physical strength and stamina

Qualifications

• 1 Year Med/Surg Or Other Acute Care Unit (preferred)

Nice to Have

• ACLS & PALS Certification
