Registered Nurse - PCU / Stepdown

About This Role

Provide specialized care for medium to high acuity patients in a PCU/Stepdown setting. This role involves monitoring vital signs, administering medications, collaborating with healthcare professionals, educating patients and families, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized care for patients with medium to high acuity needs, closely monitoring vital signs, IV drips and other key indicators
• Administer medications and implement complex treatment plans, ensuring that medical orders are carried out accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
• Educate patients and their families on the management of their acute or chronic conditions, including the proper use of equipment like BiPAP/CPAP/Home Oxygen and vital sign or blood sugar monitors
• Maintain timely and accurate patient records, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and regulations

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree (ADN) or above in nursing
• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
• Strong skills in hemodynamic monitoring
• Strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Strong skills in other advanced nursing care practices
• Proficient in electronic medical record systems

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (ADN) or above in nursing
• 1 year experience in stepdown/progressive, neurology, cardiac, or another medium to high acuity setting preferred
