Registered Nurse PAT

About This Role

The Registered Nurse, PAT coordinates the pre-admission testing and assessment process for patients undergoing invasive or surgical procedures. This role involves communicating testing results to providers and ensuring patient conditions are optimized before surgery.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order
• Explain nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety
• Assess patient’s physical and mental status
• Document patient care accurately in the medical record
• Implement doctor’s orders in a timely and accurate manner
• Coordinate patient care, providing explanations and teaching to patient/family
• Plan for routine events and anticipate, prevent, manage, and evaluate emergent situations
• Adapt to unexpected changes
• Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces medical/health care errors
• Participate in performance improvement activities

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Current and unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas
• Five (5) years of perioperative nursing experience
• BLS certified
• ACLS certified
• PALS certified or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Ability to work independently, demonstrating sound judgment and reliability
• Exceptional organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize work activity
• Advanced level written and verbal communication skills
• Strong decision-making ability and attention to detail

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Five (5) years of perioperative nursing experience
