Provide direct patient care to patients utilizing the nursing process within Medical Surgical Orthopaedics, adhering to applicable scope and standards of practice.
Responsibilities
- Perform plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments
- Document patient care given
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family
- Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
- Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide appropriate patient/family education
- Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Computer proficiency
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing Required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
