About This Role

This role involves developing, implementing, and executing economic development and revitalization programs for Laredo, focusing on downtown areas. The coordinator will manage program objectives, secure funding, and facilitate collaboration among various stakeholders to transform targeted areas.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop redevelopment and revitalization programs and initiatives, including budget management, purchasing, measuring downtown economic climate, and researching potential businesses.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with downtown merchants, organizations, chambers, and City departments.
  • Manage administrative aspects of redevelopment programs, coordinating and preparing agendas, documents, presentations, and exhibits.
  • Monitor, pursue, and apply for grant opportunities at state and federal levels.
  • Assist with business retention, expansion, and recruitment, providing information and marketing opportunities to businesses and developers.
  • Conduct outreach efforts promoting city programs for a diverse population and assist local businesses through City's permitting and approval processes.
  • Serve as staff liaison with other departments and organizations and assist with general administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management, Marketing or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in administrative support, project management, or experience with nonprofits dealing with businesses, small businesses, business-support programs, marketing and planning, or municipal governments.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and orally in Spanish.
  • Valid Texas Driver License

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management, Marketing or related field
  • At least three years of experience in administrative support, project management, or experience with nonprofits that specialize in dealing with businesses, working with small businesses and/or other business-support programs, marketing and planning or municipal governments.
