Recreation Center Aide/Coach

About This Role

This is a per diem/temporary position for an after-school program at the Recreation Center, assisting with or leading educational programs and activities for students. The role involves ensuring academic performance, creative learning environments, and the safety and well-being of children.

Responsibilities

• Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students for academic performance and responsibility
• Arrange the classroom to maintain a comfortable learning environment for students
• Assist in carrying out all classroom and outdoor activities
• Assist with the supervision of children
• Determine cognitive, social, and physical needs of students
• Enforce standards of behavior with approved discipline techniques
• Instruct and demonstrate principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants as it relates to the planned activity
• Prepare site and equipment for activities; ensures that program equipment, facilities, and supplies are available, used properly, cared for, and meet applicable health and safety standards
• Implement and supervise safety management protocols
• Create a nurturing, positive, and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedure among staff, members, volunteers, and community
• Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, with children, staff, and parents
• Operate company vehicle safely and in accordance with Desert Hot Springs Vehicle Use Policy and all state and federal operation and transportation laws
• Ensure enrolled students are picked up and dropped off at the designated locations

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid California driver's license with a good driving record
• Recent negative TB test
• Pass a Live Scan
• Current and valid CPR and first aid certificate issued by the American Heart Association
