This position is a Recreation Aid at Sonny Montgomery Fitness Center on NAS Meridian, supporting the Recreation Program for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities and fitness programs, including events, facility operations, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties and provide necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and support of recreation and fitness programs
- Provide information concerning facilities and operation
- Ensure adherence to regulations, safety and security procedures
- Assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties
- Perform numerous functions in support of recreation and fitness program delivery to include inventory control, equipment inspection, restocking, point of sale system operation and cash handling
- Operate a cash register, Point of Sale (POS) system, process product or service transactions including equipment loan, rentals, resale, and program registration; receive payments and make change
- Greet patrons in person, answer the telephone, take messages, handle customer requests, make referrals to the appropriate staff member
- Adhere to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements
- Provide support for recreation event set up and break down
Requirements
- Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation
- Successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check
- Pass Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process with two forms of identification
- Salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must have Selective Service Registration
- Knowledge of MWR department in order to answer customer questions and/or refer customers to the appropriate activity
- Skilled in keyboarding to include operation of point of sale systems as well as desktop computers
- Ability to perform basic computer operations
- Ability to read and comprehend in order to adhere to published rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, checklists, and other guides
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Ability to identify customer needs, deliver expected service and/or resolve routine customer issues
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Qualifications
- Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above, equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
