This role drives sales and territory growth for a new therapeutic option in a rare neurological sleep disorder, narcolepsy type 1, collaborating with cross-functional teams to educate healthcare providers and ensure patient access. It involves building impactful relationships with targeted HCPs and accounts to generate demand for the product.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales and territory growth through effective execution of sales strategies and tactics for a rare neurological sleep disorder (narcolepsy type 1)
- Collaborate with the Regional Business Leader and cross-functional teams to educate healthcare providers (HCPs) and ensure appropriate patient access to new therapeutic options
- Establish and build impactful relationships with targeted HCPs and accounts within the assigned geographic territory
- Generate demand for a new therapeutic option by educating and informing healthcare professionals on clinical information and in-depth knowledge of the product, the orexin system, and narcolepsy type 1
- Implement sales and marketing plans, leveraging selling skills with approved, on-label materials to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals
- Manage all business-related activities within the assigned geographic territory, focusing on achieving sales goals and advancing the diagnosis and treatment of NT1
- Build strong relationships with and educate sleep specialists, neurologists, pulmonologists, sleep centers, and associated clinic staff on disease state and approved Takeda orexin therapies
- Strategically analyze local, regional, and national business trends and apply data to assess business opportunities and tailor strategies to market needs
- Utilize CRM system to document account profiles, develop pre-call plans, and record post-call activities
- Manage a territory budget in compliance with Takeda policies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree – BS/BA
- 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device and/or relevant clinical or industry experience; OR 2+years of successful selling experience at Takeda
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to navigate complex selling environments and influence various decision makers in key accounts
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills
- Demonstrated territory planning, strategic account management and prioritization skills
- Ability to interpret analytical data to create effective sales strategies
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work within a matrix of cross-functional partners
- Understanding of payer access and reimbursement at territory, regional, and state levels
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and customer needs
- Demonstrated learning agility with ability to successfully develop and compliantly apply clinical expertise and selling skills
- Must reside within the territory or within close proximity to assigned geography
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree – BS/BA
- 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device and/or relevant clinical or industry experience; OR 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda
Nice to Have
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, preferably in rare disease or sleep disorders
- Sales experience with pharmaceutical or biologic products requiring coordination with patient access and market access teams
- Relevant clinical or industry experience
- Consultative / needs-based selling skills
- Experience working in a highly regulated marketplace
- Adept at leveraging emerging technologies, digital tools, and openness to AI-enabled processes
