Manage the Quality Assurance Department for Akima Facilities Operations, ensuring all contract quality requirements are met through inspections, performance monitoring, and compliance verification. Proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain high-quality performance across the program supporting U.S. weapons and defense systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Quality Assurance Department and associated functions.
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and continually improve the Quality Assurance (QA) Program and Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001.
- Evaluate and continually monitor, audit, and analyze to validate effective implementation and operation of the QMS.
- Evaluate overall performance of all departments based on ISO, statutory, regulatory, PWS (contractual), and QMS requirements.
- Develop and implement an internal audit program and evaluate audit findings and results.
- Coordinate with department managers and supervisors for completion of Corrective and Preventive Action Reports (CARs and PARs).
- Perform independent analysis, determine scope and course of action, and develop plans to resolve problems.
- Conduct analysis and review of problems to determine root cause and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct process and product measurements and analysis in accordance with ISO 9001.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or related field
- 5-10 years of quality assurance/quality control experience in a manufacturing, depot, or industrial production environment
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001
- Proven experience with inspection processes, quality audits, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) development
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Skilled in the use of quality measurement tools, gauges, and statistical process control (SPC) techniques
- Strong data analysis and reporting abilities, including trend identification and performance metrics
- Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills
- Ability to train teams and interface with Government representatives
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards
- Secret Clearance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5-10 years of quality assurance/quality control experience in a manufacturing, depot, or industrial production environment.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or related field
- Lean Six Sigma certification (LSSGB/LSSBB)
- Familiarity with DoD depot operations, technical data packages (TDPs), and military quality standards (e.g., MIL-STD series)
