The Quality Assurance (QA) RN Nurse plays a pivotal role in ensuring and enhancing the quality of care for residents in a long-term care facility. This position involves monitoring nursing practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Monitor nursing practices and provide feedback, coaching, and support to nursing staff to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Participate in audits and analyze data from various reports (CASPER, PointRight) and assessments to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Prepare QAPI reports, contribute to monthly QA meeting minutes, and follow up on action plans
- Support the Director of Nursing in coordinating and evaluating staff development and education programs
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote compliance and high-quality care
- Maintain accurate records for quality metrics, infection control, and wound care programs
- Serve as a resource for clinical staff, providing guidance on best practices and regulatory requirements
- Participate in state surveys and follow-up processes as needed
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among all departments to improve patient outcomes
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Current RN license in New York State
- CPR certification
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Experience in long-term care, quality improvement, or nursing leadership strongly preferred.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
- Master’s degree
- Experience in long-term care, quality improvement, or nursing leadership
- Knowledge of infection control, wound care, emergency preparedness, and nursing compliance regulations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and high ethical standards
