Manage smaller-scale projects focusing on overhead power distribution systems, coordinating technical staff, subconsultants, and vendors to ensure timely and successful project completion. This role is an entry point into KCI's Energy Project Management career path, providing foundational experience under senior guidance.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of project(s), including technical staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure timely and successful project completion
- Develop and communicate the Project Management Plan, outlining project objectives, scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and safety protocols
- Maintain project schedules, proactively identifying and addressing potential delays or conflicts to minimize impact on project timelines
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures, implementing cost-control measures as needed to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining open communication and addressing concerns or inquiries
- Allocate resources efficiently, ensuring adequate staffing and equipping of the project team to meet demands
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project
- Mentor less experienced staff to assist in their training and development
- Negotiate contract terms, scope and fees with a client/subconsultant
- Prepare monthly progress reports for all projects and discuss in monthly Project Review Meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 2 years of related professional experience, or 6 years of equivalent professional experience
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to effectively manage and lead a team of designers and field staff
- Working knowledge of power distribution systems (design, permitting, construction standards)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with project management tools and systems (e.g., Maximo, SmartSheets)
- Familiarity with both overhead (OH) and underground (UG) power distribution construction processes
- Experience coordinating with Departments of Transportation (DOT) and other utilities on major roadway projects
- Familiarity with DOT plan submittals and review processes (30/60/90/100 design stages)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry)
- Minimum of 2 years of related professional experience, or 6 years of equivalent professional experience
