About This Role

Deliver and facilitate crisis prevention, de-escalation, and safety training to staff, ensuring compliance with DDS regulations and certification standards. Develop and improve training programs through needs analysis and evaluation, continuously updating materials and collaborating with leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Baroco- and DDS-approved crisis prevention, de-escalation, and safety training in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Instruct staff on the appropriate, lawful, and ethical use of de-escalation strategies, emphasizing least restrictive interventions and trauma-informed care
  • Facilitate engaging in-person, virtual, and blended learning sessions using adult learning methodologies
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve training programs for new hires and current employees
  • Identify training needs through incident data review, quality assurance findings, staff feedback, and leadership collaboration
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through observation, assessments, and performance outcomes, revising curricula as needed
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential training records, certifications, and competency documentation
  • Collaborate with department leaders to align training initiatives with organizational goals and regulatory mandates
  • Develop and update training materials, manuals, presentations, and job aids
  • Monitor DDS guidance, regulatory updates, and emerging best practices in crisis intervention and staff development

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in education, psychology, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Prior experience as a trainer, facilitator, or instructor (human services or behavioral health preferred)
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Experience implementing Behavior Support Plans and Positive Behavior Support
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt training to diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, kneeling, bending, and participation in training simulations

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in education, psychology, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Prior experience as a trainer, facilitator, or instructor (human services or behavioral health preferred). Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation training
  • Familiarity with DDS regulations, licensing standards, and compliance expectations
