Support an after-school program by engaging directly with students, assisting teachers, and creating activities to foster children's physical, emotional, social, moral, and intellectual development.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with students in all their activities (i.e. arts, dance, sports, etc.)
- Assist teachers with participants' physical, emotional, social, moral and intellectual development
- Create and implement activities, workshops and events for students based on their interests and with their involvement
- Model positive behavior for the youth
- Engage the youth in dialogue (one-to-one and group discussions) around topics of concern for their age group and developmental stage
- Assist in the completion of homework and test prep
- Maintain the upkeep of supplies
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Familiarity with issues prevalent in underserved communities
- Ability to engage and motivate students
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some experience working with students and/or at-risk youth preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience working with children or youth in an educational, extracurricular, or after-school program
- Some experience working with students and/or at-risk youth
