About This Role

This role is responsible for planning and coordinating underground utility locating operations, utilizing various technologies. It also involves working on or leading instrumentation and measurement projects related to water quality parameters and systems. The administrator will interface with customers, develop project plans, and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate underground utility locating business for IES using technologies such as ground-penetrating radars, radio detection locators, and global positioning systems
  • Work on or lead instrumentation and measurement projects related to dissolved oxygen or air injections systems, surface water pumps, aeration weirs, and water quality parameter measurements
  • Interface with customers, plan, schedule, and perform work
  • Solicit customer feedback and develop corrective actions where necessary
  • Grow and develop the business to maximize value to TVA
  • Schedule, analyze, prepare, and revise project plans and specifications
  • Prepare reports and procedures to document results

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology or other scientific field or equivalent
  • Thorough working knowledge of water quality and flow measurement and geophysical underground locating techniques and technologies
  • Thorough working knowledge with personal computers used in data acquisition and data analysis
  • Familiarity with operation and troubleshooting of water quality and flow monitoring devices (such as Hydrolabs, ISCOs and other devices)
  • Familiarity with Excel or other spreadsheet software used in data analysis and graphic presentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of scientific practices, procedures and documentation processes
  • Demonstrated business and project skills: planning, scheduling, budget development, business development and customer relations
  • Detailed knowledge of underground utility locating and associated technologies (ground-penetrating radar, radio detection locators, global positioning system)

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Technology or other scientific field or equivalent combination of training, experience

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of Global Positioning System (GPS)
