Production Supervisor Trainee

About This Role

This role is a hands-on production supervisor trainee position, designed for individuals with a shop floor background in machining, ready to transition into leadership. The trainee will learn all aspects of rubber value stream operations and progress into a Value Stream / Production Supervisor role within approximately 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support production equipment (lathes, grinders, rubber processing equipment)
• Learn rubber department workflows, production standards, and quality expectations
• Understand scheduling, material flow, and customer requirements
• Act as a floor leader and point of contact for operators
• Assign work, support setups, and help troubleshoot production issues
• Model and promote a strong safety-first culture
• Ensure work is completed to specification and quality standards
• Partner with Quality and Engineering when issues arise
• Learn how to manage labor, workflow, and daily production priorities
• Participate in performance conversations, coaching, and employee development

Requirements

• Hands-on experience running machines (lathes, grinders, or similar) OR a 2-year technical degree in machining/manufacturing
• Strong understanding of production floor operations
• Prior experience as a lead, trainer, or informal supervisor
• Comfortable giving direction, holding people accountable, and communicating clearly
• Strong people skills
• Hands-on, floor-first leadership approach
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow
• Strong work ethic and professionalism

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree in machining, manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Hands-on experience running machines such as lathes, grinders, or similar equipment, or a 2-year technical degree. Prior leadership experience as a lead, trainer, or informal supervisor
