This Process Engineer role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing SMT manufacturing processes for automotive lighting products, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and on-time delivery to OEM and retail customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain SMT manufacturing processes to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Program and optimize SMT equipment (pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, reflow ovens, AOI/AXI)
- Perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions for defects such as solder bridging, tombstoning, misalignment, and insufficient solder
- Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and process control plans
- Lead process capability studies and implement statistical process control (SPC)
- Collaborate with design engineering to improve manufacturability (DFM) of new products
- Select solder paste, stencils, nozzles, and other materials to optimize yield and reliability
- Support new product introductions (NPI) from prototype to full-scale production
- Train operators and technicians on SMT best practices and equipment use
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase line efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, etc.) and ESD control requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or manufacturing engineering
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in an electronics manufacturing or SMT environment
- Reliable and detail-oriented

- Experience with Lean/5S principles
