Principal Structural Engineer, P.E. - Large Complex Loss

About This Role

Lead complex forensic structural engineering investigations for large complex losses, mentor junior engineers, and provide expert opinions to clients in legal, insurance, and construction sectors. This role focuses on uncovering the truth behind structural performance and failures.

Responsibilities

• Assign engineers to client losses and manage quality control within the assigned area of responsibility
• Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings
• Conduct investigations to determine and document the scope of damage
• Provide guidance and leadership on complex losses
• Implement engineering strategies within the assigned engineering team
• Collaborate with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages
• Serve as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions
• Document and maintain billable hours for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects
• Collaborate with EFI's national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in resident state
• 8+ years of experience in engineering or equivalent
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Eight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required
