Principal Project Manager - Facility Relocation

About This Role

Manage complex facility relocation projects across multiple disciplines and operating areas, including transmission, substation, distribution, gas, and information technology. This role is responsible for overseeing project scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage large and complex projects using established project management principles
• Deliver projects on time and at or below budget
• Interface with external customers for transmission and substation projects, including presenting billable costs and negotiating schedules
• Collaborate with other project managers and functional managers for optimal resource utilization
• Communicate with project sponsors and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive-level presentations
• Acquire and manage contract resources, including selection, requisitions, change orders, payments, and performance evaluation
• Lead and coach team members to improve performance and mentor less experienced colleagues
• Acquire zoning variations and permits for large projects by presenting to city zoning boards and public hearings
• Perform backup role for Manager Project Management

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency and experience managing large, complex projects using project management techniques (Planning and Control, Issue and Risk Management, Project Management Tools, Business Case Development, Progress Reporting)
• Proven leadership ability in a high-performance culture
• Demonstrated ability to build consensus, communicate effectively, engage others, and hold people accountable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (for construction project management) / Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field (for non-construction project management)
• 7-10 years relevant project management or related experience (or 9-12 years relevant experience if no Bachelor's degree)

Nice to Have

• 3-5 years of supervisory experience
• Master's degree in engineering or Business Administration
• Professional Engineer License
• Experience or knowledge of utility design/planning/construction or Information Technology experience
• Civil Electrical Engineering. Field & construction Utility (Electric Gas Telecom)
