This role involves coordinating preventative maintenance for The City of Frederick’s diverse fleet, including daily inspection, repair, and installation of equipment. The Coordinator will also manage requisitions, maintain records, and ensure proper servicing while working with considerable independence.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and implementation of the preventative maintenance program for the City’s fleet.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from fleet users.
- Prepare cost estimates for repairs and alterations to vehicles and equipment.
- Prepare requisitions and purchase orders for parts, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain records for vehicle and equipment repairs and servicing.
- Monitor a wide variety of reports, records, and fields pertaining to fleet maintenance.
- Maintain and coordinate the City fleet’s emission testing schedule.
- Monitor work procedures, preventative maintenance and repair standards, and service schedules to ensure adherence.
- Ensure adequate first aid supplies are in inventory in the shop and fleet vehicles.
- Operate a vehicle on a regular basis, observing legal and defensive practices.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen and at least eighteen (18) years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years experience in motor vehicle services, motor pool management, or procurement/maintenance/repair operations for large organization
- Proficiency in computer and fleet software programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and manuals
- Ability to use math and mathematical reasoning
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
- Three (3) years of full-time, wage-earning experience in motor vehicle services, such as motor pool management or procurement, maintenance and repair operations for a large organization, preferably in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of training and experience in general maintenance or construction.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the public sector
- Equivalent technical or trade school courses in a maintenance or construction related field
