Press Helper

About This Role

The Press Helper will perform various machine operations to support the pressroom and overall plant operations, ensuring the quality of printed products. This role involves assisting lead pressmen with tasks associated with press operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lift 25 lb stacks of printed sheets off the delivery end of the press
• Bundle 40 – 60 lb stacks of printed material off the delivery end of the press
• Place product on skids in an orderly fashion for safe and efficient transport
• Use an electric or manual jack to move skids away from the press
• Continually inspect printed material for quality and alert operators of any problems
• Discard bad signatures due to blanket washes, dry-ups, mis-register, etc., after obtaining approval
• Preserve used plates, filing them in the racks
• Gum used plates as required
• Assist in press wash-ups
• Work in a safe manner at all times and comply with work and safety rules
• Maintain a clean and clutter-free area around the press

Requirements

• H.S. diploma or equivalent
• Adequate reasoning skills
• Team-oriented
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or equivalent, associate's degree preferred
• Experience in printing industry preferred
