Preschool Paraprofessional

About This Role

Assist with the instruction and supervision of preschool students with special needs, reinforcing learning materials and supporting classroom operations.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students to reinforce learning material or skills introduced by the teacher
• Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning material or skills introduced by the teacher
• Supervise students outside of the classroom during lunch, playground time, or before and after school
• Translate material and information for parents, students, and staff
• Administer tests and assessments, grade papers, and maintain records under teacher supervision
• Maintain files and computer records
• Assist supervising instructor with duties specifically related to area of instruction
• Provide personal assistance with toileting, hygiene, feeding, and lifting as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• PRAXIS or Work Keys test accepted, or Associate’s degree, or 60 college credits
• Current First Aid and CPR (or within 30 days after hire to obtain)
• Valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Experience and knowledge of student needs at different ages, educational and developmental levels
• Working knowledge of educational practices, processes and techniques
• Ability to assess student's educational needs
• Ability to provide tutoring in various educational subjects and areas
• Ability to operate office equipment and MS Office

Qualifications
