Preschool Aide

About This Role

This part-time Preschool Aide position involves assisting in the planning and implementation of a preschool program, supervising children's learning activities, and maintaining safe and healthy program facilities for the City of Moorpark's Little Learners Academy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, and leading developmentally appropriate activities to promote cognitive, social-emotional, speech/language, and motor skill development of children
• Prepare supplies and materials for lesson plans, snacks, and other program activities; monitor usage, and guide children in appropriate use of supplies, materials, and equipment
• Supervise and care for children; enforce rules and provide appropriate guidance and discipline to ensure safety; assist children with hygiene and toileting as necessary
• Set-up and clean-up for preschool and recreational programs; maintain neat and orderly facilities; perform light custodial duties as needed
• Administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary
• Provide information and respond to inquiries from program participants
• Assist with observing and documenting children's progress toward desired development goals; work collaboratively with other staff to develop written progress reports
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
• Provide responsible staff assistance and support to the assigned supervisor

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Completion of no less than six (6) early childhood education units at an accredited college or university

Qualifications

• High school diploma and completion of no less than six (6) early childhood education units at an accredited college or university
• Some experience working with children in education or recreation programs is desirable.
