Support teachers in instructing scholars using a classical learning model, assisting with classroom activities, staff breaks, and transitions. This role is crucial for maintaining a supportive and engaging educational environment for pre-kindergarten scholars.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making
- Assist with classroom activities, supporting lead teachers, covering staff breaks, or helping with transitions
- Maintain order among scholars and enforce rules and procedures for responsible behavior
- Prepare materials and instructional resources for use in the classroom and class activities
- Provide instructional support to scholars using whole class, small, leveled groups, and individual approaches
- Supervise scholars in hallways, during drop-off, lunch, and pick-up with a "safety first" mindset
- Read books to entire classes or small groups
- Administer formative assessments and assignments as directed by the classroom teacher
- Maintain accurate and complete scholar records as required by the school and laws
- Prepare scholars for later grades by encouraging exploration and perseverance with challenging tasks
- Support the teacher's enforcement of administration policies and rules governing scholars
- Instruct and monitor scholars in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage
- Attend professional development meetings and training workshops to maintain and improve professional skills
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Pre-Kindergarten Program Supervisor
- Assist in storing and inventorying classroom equipment, materials, and supplies
- Maintain confidentiality per FERPA
- Maintain licensing compliances
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- CBI Fingerprint Clearance / Background and Criminal History Clearance
- Valid Food handlers card
- Current TB test (completed within the last 6 months)
- ECE 101 and 103 OR ECE 101 and 9 months (840 hours) of experience in a classroom
- Abuse and Neglect training
- FEMA disaster preparedness training
- First Aid/CPR
- OSHA-approved Standard Precautions
- Introduction to Early Intervention and Special Education Programs
- Impact of Bias on Early Education
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; ECE 101 and 103 OR ECE 101 and 9 months (840 hours) of experience in a classroom
- Entry level with 9 months or 840 hours experience required if ECE 103 not completed
