About This Role

This Postdoctoral Fellow will design, fabricate, and test superconducting devices at cryogenic temperatures, focusing on scalable manufacturing processes for quantum computing components.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and conduct testing of superconducting devices at cryogenic temperatures
  • Develop fabrication processes for scalable manufacturing of superconducting qubits, amplifiers, and detectors
  • Contribute to team research and student training within the field
  • Conduct research on superconducting quantum devices, independently and as part of a team
  • Create scholarly output recognized by peers
  • Undertake specific research project/s under the guidance of a research leader
  • Support the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels
  • Develop and apply custom-built software to control measurement instruments and analyze experimental data
  • Operate and maintain dilution refrigerators and other closed-cycle cryostats
  • Develop measurement protocols to characterize the performance of superconducting devices

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related area
  • Demonstrated track record in the operation of quantum devices/quantum hardware, especially at microwave frequencies and millikelvin temperatures
  • Demonstrated track record in the fabrication and/or operation of superconducting quantum devices
  • Demonstrated track record of performing measurements on quantum devices and characterization of their performance
  • Demonstrated track record of operating dilution refrigerators and variable temperature insert (1.5 Kelvin) systems
  • Commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
  • Ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision
  • Track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity
  • Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related area
