Pool Lifeguard

About This Role

Ensure the safety of all swimmers, campers, and counselors at pool facilities within the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds. Provide rescues as needed and enforce safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and guard all swim activities to help prevent and manage injuries
• Provide rescues as needed
• Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures while at the pools
• Daily set-up and close down of pools

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old at the start of camp
• Ability to identify and respond to critical incidents visually and auditorily
• Physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
• Ability to spend the entire day outdoors, under the sun
• Ability to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl or breaststroke
• Ability to tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs
• Complete a timed event (swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10lb object from 7-10 feet deep, return 20 yards with object, exit pool without ladder/steps) within 1 minute, 40 seconds

Qualifications

• No prior experience working as a lifeguard is necessary
