About This Role

Enforce laws, provide aid, prevent crime, investigate offenses, and arrest offenders as a Police Officer. Cadets will attend and complete a Basic Peace Officer Course to qualify for commissioning as a peace officer for The University of Texas System Police.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the law and preserve peace using all lawful means
  • Provide service, information, and aid to citizens
  • Prevent crime and suppress disturbances
  • Investigate criminal offenses to detect and arrest criminals and recover stolen or lost property
  • Execute all lawful process and arrest offenders with or without warrant when authorized by law
  • Prepare various written reports narrating law enforcement and police activities
  • Confer with local enforcement, criminal justice, and emergency response agencies on matters of mutual interest
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete a Basic Peace Officer Course (Cadet)
  • Participate in physical training, firearms training, defensive tactics, and practical problems (Cadet)
  • Actively participate in classroom discussions and group projects, demonstrating ability to apply knowledge (Cadet)

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED

Nice to Have

  • Current basic TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) License
  • Two (2) years of law enforcement experience
  • Thirty (30) hours of college or more from an accredited college or university
  • Experience working in a higher education or equivalent environment
