The Plant Engineer is responsible for overseeing cost and engineering activities to ensure efficient plant operations and compliance with regulatory agencies. This role involves determining production quantities, managing maintenance, and supporting plant management.
Responsibilities
- Determine and calculate production quantities and communicate to management for cost understanding
- Prepare, implement, and test SWPPPs and hazardous materials plans in conjunction with the Environmental Department for regulatory compliance
- Perform operational improvement studies and recommend modifications for efficient operations
- Conduct and/or participate in safety audits and meetings to ensure a safe working environment
- Prepare and prioritize maintenance and repairs of material processing equipment for cost-efficient schedules
- Manage spare parts inventories for efficient crew repairs
- Perform semi-annual inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Support plant manager, foreman, and superintendents as needed for operation success
Requirements
- 0-2 years of construction materials processing experience
- General knowledge of materials business
- Knowledge of Plant operations and mechanical requirements
- General understanding of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures
- Ability to establish relationships with agencies and represent Granite in a public forum
- Public speaking skills and ability to communicate with management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other related field preferred or equivalent years of work experience
- 0-2 years of construction materials processing experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other related field
- General knowledge of Hot Mix Asphalt Plants
