Plans Examiner

About This Role

Review building plans for compliance with city ordinances, building codes, and state regulations, providing technical assistance and excellent customer service to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial and residential construction plans for compliance with City, State, and Federal rules and regulations, Building Codes, Zoning Ordinances, Subdivision and Land Development Regulations, Planned Development Ordinances, and Development Agreements adopted by the City of Aubrey.
• Provide technical assistance and coordination with design professionals, owners, and contractors to expedite permit approval.
• Furnish information to citizens, builders, architects, and engineers regarding building code requirements.
• Monitor status of pending applications and facilitate corrections.
• Ensure accuracy when entering and maintaining plan review records into computer files.
• Manage and maintain records and documents collected and created for plan reviews.
• Assist Chief Building Official with various projects and provide backup support to inspections and permitting.
• Maintain current knowledge of local ordinances and building codes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
• 6 years of relevant experience
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Knowledge of construction codes, ordinances, technical manuals, building plans, and construction drawings
• Knowledge of architectural design principles and techniques

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
• Six (6) years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Bilingual in Spanish
• I.C.C. Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and/or Residential Plans Examiner Certifications
