This Planner I role delivers comprehensive design and engineering services for electrical utility projects. The individual will manage multiple concurrent projects, develop technical reports and drawings, and provide mentorship as part of a fast-paced team.
Responsibilities
- Design and construct Lighting, Underground (UG) and Overhead (OH) Utility systems
- Manage multiple concurrent projects from single-unit to large complexes with adherence to standards and deadlines
- Utilize utility Geographical Information Systems, planning database systems, and material ordering systems
- Provide technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex design issues using construction standards and regulations
- Plan, organize, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively
- Generate thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, drawings, and sketches
- Continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance
- Mentor and collaborate with peers and trainees in a fast-paced team environment
Requirements
- Graduate of the Service Planner Development Program (SPDP) OR one or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution Design, Transmission Design, Distribution Line construction, or Electrical Engineering discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission Design or Line Construction, or graduate of the Service Planner Development Program (SPDP)
Nice to Have
- Experience working with current utility industry GIS and WMIS programs as a Service Planner, Engineer, or equivalent field
- Demonstrated experience utilizing pole loading software such as SPIDA, O-Calc, or equivalent including overhead design and engineering principles
- Proven AutoCAD, AUD, and/or Microstation skills
