Physical Education/Wellness Teacher

About This Role

Teach Physical Education and Wellness to students in grades 9-12 for Hamilton County Schools, focusing on academic excellence and holistic student development. This role involves understanding state standards, building a positive classroom culture, and fostering strong relationships with families.

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand the Tennessee State English Language Arts Standards and establish clear learning targets and lesson plans for every lesson.
• Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement high leverage literacy practices.
• Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including ensuring equity, setting high expectations, building a productive classroom culture, and responsive teaching and learning.
• Promote a growth mindset through student and teacher interactions.
• Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families and diligently inform parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns.
• Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
• Actively participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues to improve teaching and student learning.
• Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

Requirements

• Valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in Physical Education K-12 or be an upcoming graduate from an accredited teacher preparation program.
• Bachelor's degree
• Commitment to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students
• Ability to be a positive team-player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families
• Open to being coached and receiving feedback to advance learning and growth for students
• Professional with high personal standards and integrity
