The Phlebotomist Team Leader provides leadership and guidance to collection staff during blood drives and at branches. This role involves performing phlebotomy and blood collection procedures according to established regulations and standards, and may include driving a bloodmobile.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, instruction, and guidance to collection staff, including assigning meal/break periods
- Ensure staff adherence to applicable policies and procedures
- Obtain medical history and vitals from donors and/or patients
- Perform phlebotomy and collection procedures for blood or blood components
- Complete beginning and end of shift responsibilities, including reviewing donor records and regulated documents
- Assist with recruitment of all donors, including potential apheresis and platelet candidates
- Ensure all equipment is operational and necessary supplies are available for blood drives or branch operations
- Monitor deferrals and performance to identify training needs or equipment issues
- Ensure excellent customer service and professionalism towards all customers
- Drive a bloodmobile and other collection vehicles to and from collection sites if assigned to mobiles
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Six months of related experience
