About This Role

Perform day-to-day phlebotomy duties following federal, state, and local standards to ensure accurate specimen collection and proper patient identification, supporting quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy duties in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
  • Organize work systematically and courteously receive patients
  • Obtain proper specimens, verify patient identity, and correctly label specimens
  • Perform EKGs accurately with appropriate training
  • Use good judgment in procuring specimens from difficult patients or unusual circumstances and document deviations
  • Prioritize the collection and delivery of stat, urgent, timed, and routine orders to the laboratory
  • Maintain phlebotomy tray and outpatient laboratory supplies neatly
  • Monitor computer system for collection batches, outstanding specimen reports, and requisition entries
  • Demonstrate professionalism, positive attitude, and customer service skills
  • Provide appropriate care relative to the age-specific needs of the patient
  • Comply with organizational and safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • Adhere to attendance policy regarding punctuality and presence

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license (or obtain within 30 days for Ohio residents)
  • Ability to provide own transportation while on duty
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized, able to prioritize, work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused and service-oriented
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of clinical or anatomical laboratory functions, medical terminology or science background
  • Associate’s degree in an Allied Health field
  • Experience preferred
  • PBT (ASCP) registration
  • Completion of a regionally accredited phlebotomy certificate program
