This fully funded PhD opportunity at the University of Toronto focuses on developing innovative solutions to address urban flooding. The research aims to integrate advanced hydrological and hydraulic modelling with risk-based urban planning for resilient city infrastructure in the Greater Toronto Area.
Responsibilities
- Work at the forefront of research and practice in flood risk assessment
- Integrate advanced hydrological and hydraulic modelling with risk-based urban planning
- Support the design and management of resilient urban infrastructure
- Inform policy and practice in the Greater Toronto Area
- Apply advanced hydrological and hydraulic models to assess flood hazards
- Integrate models with risk assessment frameworks to guide urban planning and infrastructure design
Requirements
- Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline
- Strong background in hydrological and hydraulic modelling
- Academic excellence with undergraduate and master’s GPA averages of at least B+ (3.3/4.0 or 78%)
- Meet English Language Proficiency Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Nice to Have
- Experience with Python programming and GIS tools
