About This Role

Serve as a retail pharmacy technician, developing competency in customer service, medication dispensing, insurance billing functions, and clinical support needs while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Service pharmacy customers by obtaining demographic information, performing data entry, insurance verification, and cashiering
Dispense and deliver medications utilizing information systems, technology, and automation
Manage insurance and third-party billing functions, including prior authorizations and error correction
Provide clinical support, including managing DIR fees
Promote and assist with diabetic footwear sales and related insurance billing (if applicable)
Develop competence in pharmacy workflow across multiple locations (if a float technician)
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and department requirements for pharmacy practice
Comply with controlled substance procedures and USP requirements
Provide age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of principles of growth and development

Requirements

High School Graduate
No experience required
Good Mathematic skills
Attention to details
Good customer service, communication, organization, problem resolution and process development skills
Basic computer skills

Certifications

Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire (Required) Immunization certification (patient facing) (Required) BLS through an entity approved by Advocate Health (patient facing) (Required) Non-vaccine injectable certification from WI state or ACPE-approved program (patient facing) (Required)
