Pediatric Urgent Care Medical Assistant

About This Role

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support in a pediatric urgent care setting, assisting with primary patient care within their scope of practice under physician supervision. This role ensures effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations
• Greet and register patients as they arrive
• Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intake
• Prepare patients for X-rays
• Perform and document routine labs, such as throat and urine cultures
• Irrigate and assist with wounds
• Assist in performing quality control testing in the lab
• Keep exam rooms and front reception stocked with adequate supplies
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the waiting room area
• Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies and notifying the medical team
• Assistant patients with complaints and taking an active role in service recovery
• Perform other duties as needed including applying splints and assisting in other medical procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Prior experience and/or education as a Medical Assistant
• Knowledge of EKG placement and processing in children
• Ability to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab, and venipuncture
• Demonstrate a professional and friendly demeanor
• Strong communications and organizational skills
• Prior pediatric experience
• Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable with computers
• Willing to learn medical software

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Prior experience and/or education as a Medical Assistant; Prior pediatric experience

Nice to Have

• Venipuncture experience preferred
• Experience with medical records preferred
