Perform direct patient care, documentation, and communication of significant information to the nursing staff. Assist patients with daily living activities, provide basic care, and maintain a comfortable environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient observation and document patient care and response to care
- Communicate significant information to the registered nurse and other appropriate team members
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Provide basic care to ill patients
- Perform general nursing care such as positioning, lifting, turning, applying special equipment, assisting with bed pan/urinal/commode, ambulating patients, and pre/post-operative care
- Take and accurately record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake/output measurements
- Prepare patient room and bed for admission and transfers, ensuring all necessary equipment is present
- Maintain an attractive and comfortable environment for patients, focusing on cleanliness, ventilation, and lighting
- Assist in patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, including handling patient belongings
- Answer patient call lights, telephone, and paging system and respond as appropriate
- Perform routine treatment procedures like enemas and application of heat/cold under RN direction
- Release, remove, and reapply restraints to patients under the direction of an RN
- Ensure patient is in proper position and alignment
- Assist Registered Nurse and/or LVN/LPN with complicated patient treatment procedures
- Serve and remove patient meal trays in a timely manner, assist with feeding and food preparation
- Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- BLS certification
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to organize tasks, set priorities, and function under stressful situations
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Healthcare experience preferred, but not required.
Nice to Have
- Successful completion of a Patient Care Training program
- State Certified Nursing Assistant licensure
- Healthcare experience
