This role involves performing a variety of clinical and patient care functions under the direction of a clinical RN or physician to support patients and staff in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) setting. The Patient Care Tech ensures patient safety and assists with daily living needs in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Collects, labels and transports specimens
- Obtains 12 lead EKG’s
- Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters
- Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs
- Performs Bladder Scan
- Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate
- Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs
- Performs hourly patient rounding in collaboration with the clinical RN
- Obtains and documents patient care data as directed by the clinical RN
- Assists with patient ambulation and positioning
- Responds to patient call lights and request for assistance professionally and timely
- Maintains visual observation of patients with no distractions as a Safety Attendant/Telesitter Monitor
- Monitors and maintains patient environmental safety, and notifies care team of hazards
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the state of Illinois CNA Registry OR Nursing student who has successfully completed one clinical rotation with written verification
- BLS through American Heart Association
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull force up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited CNA program OR Nursing student who has successfully completed one clinical rotation.
