Provide valuable service to the community and parklands by supporting the daily operations of Sonoma County Regional Parks. This role involves maintaining park cleanliness, assisting visitors, and supporting various park programs and special events.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, dump trash, and collect litter
- Open and close parks
- Assist Maintenance Workers with various tasks
- Help the Park Operations team keep the parks safe and clean
- Interpret and explain park rules to park visitors
- Collect fees such as day use passes, membership purchases, and campground fees
- Assist with special events, park previews, and educational programs
Requirements
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to use hand tools and light machines
- Ability to perform moderately heavy physical manual labor
- Ability to detect safety hazards within a park area and report problems to supervisor
- Ability to prepare a simple record of daily fees on a standardized form
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with the public and County personnel
- Ability to ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
- Ability to tactfully explain rules, regulations, laws and ordinances
- Ability to safely drive and operate light motorized vehicles
Qualifications
- Experience in a position involving public contact, or performing janitorial, and/or physical manual labor.
Nice to Have
- Experience performing janitorial and physical labor duties
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to make independent decisions and possession of problem-solving skills
- Experience handling cash and using a point-of-sale system
- Strong communication customer service skills to assist a diverse group of people internally and externally
- Coursework or training in park management, natural resources, forestry, environmental studies, or a closely related field
