Parasitology Lab Aide

About This Role

The Parasitology Lab Aide is responsible for the collection, processing, and preparation of fecal samples for diagnostic testing on an overnight shift. This role ensures accurate lab procedures and contributes to pet health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up
• Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates
• Accurately build loads and label processing tubes
• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required
• Find missing specimens, print, and reconcile queue list
• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator
• Maintain all equipment including hoods and centrifuges
• Maintain awareness of quality control and calibration
• Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within the department/lab
• Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Attention to detail
• Organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in the English language
