About This Role

Provide essential academic and administrative support to the instructional program within assigned classrooms, assisting individual or small groups of students, and performing clerical tasks for teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to support and reinforce learning goals
  • Administer classroom assignments to aid teachers in the instructional process
  • Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments and academic goals
  • Communicate with teachers to help evaluate student progress and implement classroom objectives
  • Maintain classroom equipment, work areas, and various files and records for availability and safety
  • Monitor students in diverse settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
  • Perform general clerical tasks to prepare instructional materials for teachers
  • Report observations and incidents regarding specific students to appropriate personnel
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records
  • Assist students with personal care needs, including changing diapers, feeding, and hygiene

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completed at least 48 credit hours of college study OR passed the OGET test OR passed the Education Testing Service Parapro Assessment Test (score of 455+) OR Workkeys Assessment (score of 3+ on all parts)
  • OSDE special education paraprofessional training
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Yearly Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens training
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and basic computer software
  • Ability to perform basic math and understand complex instructions
  • Knowledge of child development stages and learning styles

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, plus college credits, OGET test, Parapro Assessment Test, or Workkeys Assessment.
