The 1:1 Paraeducator assists students with instruction, supports the special education teacher, and helps with classroom activities to facilitate an effective learning environment at Hubbell Elementary School.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline
- Assist teacher with instructional activities
- Escort students from room to room
- Toilet students when required
- Work with both special education and regular students
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP
- Supervise students at recess and lunch
- Assist students with classroom assignments
- Copy materials for instructional purposes
- Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork
- Alert teachers to problems that may be observed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- Two years of college credit OR an associate's (or higher) degree OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree, plus two years of college credit OR an associate's (or higher) degree OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment.
Nice to Have
- Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications
