The Outdoor Recreation Trip Leader provides direct instructional support for outdoor recreation courses by preparing materials and equipment, assisting instructors, and ensuring safe and effective experiential learning. This role supports Olympic College's mission by delivering high-quality wilderness education to students.
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials and equipment for outdoor instruction
- Assist instructors during field and classroom activities
- Teach safe and efficient backpacking and alpine travel techniques
- Instruct students in rules and regulations for outdoor recreation across local, state, and federal lands
- Teach techniques in Leave No Trace, outdoor cooking, basic first aid, map and compass navigation, survival skills, weather assessment, knot tying, and search & rescue elements
- Maintain activity, safety, and equipment records and prepare reports related to outdoor recreation programming
Requirements
- Current First Aid and CPR training
- Training and experience in alpine mountaineering and backpacking

- Previous instruction or mentoring experience
