Operator 2, Golf Maintenance

About This Role

This Operator 2 position is a mid-level role on the Golf Course Maintenance Team, responsible for grooming the golf course and operating various maintenance equipment to ensure optimal playing conditions. The role involves performing various tasks under supervision and contributing to a productive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform bunker raking, green and tee mowing, and hand mowing
• Operate riding machine equipment, including triplex units, rough machines, fairway machines, approach machines, and rollers
• Follow directions and perform tasks under the supervision of the Foreman and Superintendents
• Work in a safe manner, using all assigned personal protective equipment
• Report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor
• Communicate daily with supervisors regarding challenges, concerns, or maintenance suggestions
• Perform daily vehicle refueling and reloading of materials
• Maintain and clean all equipment daily and report equipment issues

Requirements

• Basic understanding of the game of golf and its maintenance requirements
• Knowledge of proper bunker maintenance, pruning, landscape maintenance, and general golf course maintenance preparation
• Knowledge of proper equipment operation, including clean up
• Mastery of duties and tools used by an Operator 1 (mechanical rakes, walk moers, hedge trimmers, line trimmers, weed eaters, hand rakes, mechanical bunker rakes, loppers, pruners, rakes, shovels)
• Ability to operate riding machine equipment (triplex units, small and large rough machines, fairway machines, approach machines, and rollers)
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports, plans, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory documents
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with team members and supervisors
• Willingness to accept responsibility for tasks, actions, and decisions
• Ability to make good decisions based on sound judgement
• Ability to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
• Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekend availability

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1-2 years of golf maintenance experience preferred

Nice to Have

• Bilingual in English/Spanish
• Valid driver’s license (may be required to operate some vehicles)
