Supervise and direct lower-level clerical staff while providing administrative services for the Health and Human Services Agency. Perform highly responsible and complex clerical support duties in fiscal, budgeting, and personnel areas.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative services in support of administrative, fiscal, and program areas of the assigned department
- Perform highly responsible and complex clerical support duties
- Direct and supervise the work of lower-level clerical classifications
- Assist supervisor with planning, implementation, and administration of department budget programs and projects
- Evaluate office and inter-departmental procedures and recommend modifications for efficiency
- Train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate assigned clerical personnel
- Provide assistance with personnel functions, including employee selection and record maintenance
- Assist with departmental fiscal operations, including accounts payable/receivable and budget monitoring
- Type routine and confidential documents, correspondence, reports, and prepare news releases
- Research and assemble supporting data for Board of Supervisors agenda items
- Provide information and assistance to County staff, other agency personnel, and the public
- Establish, organize, and maintain complex department filing systems
- Enter and retrieve computer data; maintain databases and generate computer reports
Requirements
- 5 years of increasingly responsible full-time equivalent secretarial or clerical administrative experience including assignments requiring a working proficiency in the use of a computer, using spreadsheet, e-mail, and data based software, and extensive public contact
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of at least 30 units of college level course work in public or business administration, computer science or closely related field (or an additional year of qualifying experience as substitute)
- Possession of a valid California driver's license
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferably including classes in typing, bookkeeping and related subjects. Completion of at least 30 units of college level course work in public or business administration, computer science or closely related field.
- Five years of increasingly responsible full-time equivalent secretarial or clerical administrative experience including assignments requiring a working proficiency in the use of a computer, using spreadsheet, e-mail, and data based software, and extensive public contact equivalent to an Office Assistant II in Mariposa County. Or, one year of experience as an Office Technician or three years of experience as a Senior Office Assistant in Mariposa County. An additional year of qualifying experience may be substituted for the 30 units of college level course work.
